pull it out and look at the threads on the welded nut.

If you were able to get the bolt all the way through and flush, then you stripped out that nut somehow. You need to get another nut on there, you can't really tap it any bigger. Pull off the strut and let us know.

Also, I would NEVER drive the car like that, if you couldn't torque it, loctite is not going to hold it in place...hopefully the preload will keep it in, but you could go over a bump and lose it, and do some serious damage, not worth the risk IMHO.

Did you buy them new? Anyhow if the nut is stripped then you need to cut the welded nut off and just replace it with another one. Should be an easy fix.
