sleeves question!!! help please
8 months ago one of my good friend had his gsr motor fully built at a local machine shop..they sold him DARTON sleeves and he provided the cp pistons and crower rods...anyways...the machine shop also installed valve springs and retainers on the head and torqued the head down...we bought the turbo today and bought ARP head studs because they did not install them at the machine shop...so we took the head off today and realized that there is NO DARTON SLEEVES INSTALLED IN THE BLOCK!!!!!!......i could be mistaken but the darton sleeves i have always seen are closed deck and always come with a blockguard on them...
the sleeves in the motor do not have that!!!...it looks a bit thicker than a stock sleeve but its kinda hard to tell...what is the easist way for me to find out wheter they are darton sleeves or not????!!!
need to find out ASAP because if they are then we'll torque the head down, install the t67 turbo and tune the **** out of it so we can be ready by next weekend!! please help!!

Maybe if u browse around ERl's website you can find some pics that u can use as a reference, its not the greatest way but a shot.

that engine probably has darton open deck sleeves. benson's uses them alot with their re-sleeving. do a search and you will find pics/info about them.
not all darton sleeves are closed deck (MID sleeves)
not all darton sleeves are closed deck (MID sleeves)
darton makes stock thickness sleeves which are just a stronger stock replacement(which are called dry sleeves) - darton makes flanged sleeves which are thicker at the very top about 3/8" down and then stock size the rest the way down (still open deck and called dry flanged sleeves) - and then they make the m.i.d. sleeves which stands for modular integrated deck which is a full replacement and is closer to closed deck.
