It's not the shortshifter that messes up the tranny, it's the people that don't know how to shift the lever and press the clutch in correlation with each other. Shift through the gears properly and you won't have any problems.

I got my B&M shifter, and it works fine. A little harder to put in reverse, but it's worth it. If I screw up my tranny, it will just be an excuse for me to do an engine swap.

Agreed. But the theory is that short shifters will try to force the synchros into the muff collar quicker, wearing them out sooner. This makes sense, but it's more an operator- error issue, rather than equipment failure. To me, short shifters (and pedal covers, for that matter) are unnessicary if you know how to shift (and heel toe) properly.

no I agree with your statement, but I have noticed with the honda pedals it's a bitch to heal toe...I can only seem to get...big toe/small toe shared between gas and brakes...they are too far apart, but that's with my crx...haven't messed aroudn wiht my hatch enough

anyways ya I agree it does seem more operator oriented than equipment failure...but my convern is that your adding serious wear to that equipment, and that's my main worry...glad that's cleared up
