Default Short shifter...supposed to be notchy?

Hey guys, just got my neuspeed SS installed saturday and it's not as smooth as the stock one. I have the ES bushings installed a while back with the stock shifter and it felt great. Now with the SS, it feels harder to put in gear. Is this normal? Do i need to check anything? Thanks.

well . . . .since the shifter is shorter, there is less leverage ...so mechanically (sp) you gotta push harder to get it into gear. . . . .

I didn't do the install. I paid a shop $35 to install it. Don't have jacks and jack stands yet. Anyway, i guess i'll just wait and see if it will loosen up after a few weeks. It's only been a few days. Thanks guys for your replies.

If it is really tight to move the shifter, the installer may have really cranked down on the nut and bolt that connects to the linkage. Loosen up that nut and bolt and retighten to factory torque specs.

The Neuspeed short shifter comes with its own bushings also so did the person who installed it use the Neuspeed bushings? Anywayz for my 01 GSR with the Neuspeed SS it feels great a lot better than stock and it goes in gear well. Good luck with yours. I guess the throw doesn't feel short to me no more probably cuz i got use to it hehe.

Chris: This one is a lot better than B&M.
1st because of the position, it has a bend like the stock shifter so it's almost in the same position as the stock. B&M doesn't so it sits farther.
2nd The B&M i got had the plastic at the pivot ball broken so it rattled and the shifts are not precise. Now the neuspeed is getting better. Smoother shifts everyday.

Personal preference here hehehe.

I did not use the neuspeed bushings because i already put in ES bushings when I had the B&M installed. Therefore, the neuspeed bushings are for sale
