Default short shifter help

i installed my neuspeed ss several months ago and when i first installed it the shifting was very tight a precise. since then its gotten very loose and when in gear i can move the shifter back and forth alot. its hard to hit gears now because i have to feel around for them. so i went under and loosened than tightened everything again thinking that was the problem. but it did nothing, than i took the ss out and turned it around than reinstalled it, still didnt help. i have no idea what it could be...someone throw me some knowledge!
