Clutch or Transmission Problem?????

Default Clutch or Transmission Problem?????

hello i recently bought a 2000 honda civic si. it has 78k miles and as far as i know it is the original clutch. the owner before me adjusted the clutch so that it is already half way down and u just need to tap it to shift gears. it also has a dc short shifter. recently it has been very hard to shift into gear as i would have to force myself just to go into first. sometimes it doesnt matter how hard i force it in, it doesnt go into gear. today, my 1st gear, 4th gear and 5th gear grinded, and then it stopped and then it was just 4th gear that kept on grinding. it usually doesnt grind until now and ive been driving it normal. another thing is when i turn off the car, and step on the clutch and move the shifter, it shifts smoothly, but when the car is on, its hard again. could it be my transmission? clutch? clutch adjusted badly? timing belt? transmission fluid evaporated??? thanks

also i read on here somewhere it might be the slave clutch cylinder, where is it located in my car? thanks

I'm not sure what's causing your specific problem, but I do know that having a clutch adjusted like that is very bad. Wears out your throwout bearing like crazy.

Im 99% sure that your clutch and flywheel are worn unevenly and thats why its resisting the throw into gear, and gearing out...

I know beause this happened to me only 2 months ago. And hes right, its because of the way your clutch pedal is adjusted. You need to adjust it so its got about a fourth of an inch of play up top and grabs (up top as well)

Your more than likely going to need a new clutch, flywheel and pressure plate.

I drove mine like this for about 8-9 months because i didnt know any better, I converted it from an auto to manual and the shop didnt set me up correctly. Its not your transmission, im sure of it..... Or pretty sure.

You need to drop the tranny and examine these things to see if they wore unevenly, I hope I helped you out a lil bit.. When I seen this thread I had to jump on it to tell you about my experience before you go shelling out money for absolutely nothing at all.
