Default Shock/Strut Ground Control help...

I have a 94 civic ex coupe that is pretty much stock and I have some Ground Control Coilovers on the way. My questions is, will the coilovers kill my stock shocks or can I ride on the stock shocks with the coilover system on without problems. The coilovers are described as:

Sleeve & Spring Coil-Over Suspension Kit - Limited Edition - Lowers .5" to 3.5" (for stock/Sachs/Boge/Tokico Premium Performance/Tokico Illumina/KYB/KYB AGX/GAB HP shocks).

One article that I read that really helped is this one:
http://www.hondalife.com/articles/suspension.htm

It was helpful in making me aware of some suspension information and making me aware that I might have a potential problem with my stock shocks with the new coilovers. Can I keep the stock shocks or do I need new ones. If I need new one's, what is a good one that won't kill my bank account.

Depends on how low you want to go.

With a 1.5 inch drop in front and a 1.75 inch drop in rear, I had no problems for 30,000 miles and the shocks are still good.

The ride isn't bouncy and it is pretty clean.

If you plan on lowering your car to 2" or lower, then definitely need to change struts/shocks. At first I had Eibach sport springs on my civic (1.5" ft, 1.75 bk), worked fine w/ stock shocks. Used for about 25k. Then put ground controls on. Ride was so rough, had to get some Tokico adj. about a wk later to balance them out. works great! All this is now on my 98 gsr & believe it or not, the same set up rides 100 times better on . So, it really depends on how low you want to go....

I guess i'll go with a less than 2" drop for now till I get some shocks/struts. If that's won't feel bouncy, that's cool, If it won't work, let me know. I guess i'll try the same drop measurements above, 1.5 front and 1.75 back.

just get some shocks with it. u'll be happier and you dont have to pay to get the shocks installed later.

The spring rates are more of a concern than the car ride height when asking if the coilovers will work with your current (OEM?) struts/shocks. What spring rates did you get? Did you tell GC that you wanted to run the stock shocks when you ordered these?

If you lower the car too much, the shock/strut will bottom out more which will shorten the life of the shocks unless you get shorter struts/shocks or really stiff springs to keep the car from bottoming.

Hope this helps.
