engine feels like its quitting
i have a 98 gsr, and when i try to take it up to redline, the engine wont go past 6500 rpm. everything seems to go fine and it feels like its pulling well, but once it hits 6500 rpm it gives up and doesnt wanna go any further. the two possible causes i've heard are the distributor or a clogged fuel filter. is there anything else i should look for? my engine has about 59K miles on it and i'm slowly getting all the required maintenance done to it. i would really like to resolve the problem myself instead of shelling out a rediculous amount of money to have some shop diagnose the problem for me, but if worse comes to worse, i guess thats what it might come down to. any and all help would be appreciated. TIA.
Does the fuel cut off with car simply losing steam or does it bounce off 6500?
A clogged fuel filter wouldn't make it cut off consistently at 6500.

yeah....oil level is between the two holes on the dip stick...closer to the top hole. i just did a valve adjustment this past weekend. everything went well except i broke one of the head bolts coming up through the spark plug cover. i havent really messed with anything in the engine except for switching between CAI and stock air box depending on the season and the valve adjustment. i have a new distributor cap and rotor waiting to be put in, which i'll probably do this weekend...but i dont know if that will solve anything or not. i heard from another tech forum that it could be my vtec solenoid...anyone have an opinion on this?
