Default !!!!! **** !!!!! Leaking mount hole in block! Help!

Today I pulled my engine to begin building the block for turbo. The plan is to ship it off to have it sleeved (GE), and then load it up with forged pistons/rods.

However, I just went out to the garage to take another look at my baby, and just about **** my pants when I saw this...

What the heck?

There appears to be oil leaking from the AC bracket/torque mount where it mounts to the block. Looks to be about a 2" diameter dark stain around the bolt hole with a glistening substance shining on the ridge of the hole.

Is my block fuct?

It could be some oil that leaked out of the ac comp. What you could do is find a bolt that is the right length apply a nice amount of silicone and tighten it down.
It is cheaper than buying a new block.

*bump

i will clean it really well with a q-tip tonight after work and see what happens.

i have not had an ac compressor on the car since i put this engine in. ...and i cleaned the block thoroughly before putting it in the car. this has accumulated over the last 12-14 months.

sealant and a bolt should do the trick if there is a pinhole in there somewhere...just make sure theres no cracks

if there is a crack it will just get worse with vibrations.

I shined a light down the bolt hole when I went home for lunch, and the end of the hole appears to be intact and no cracks. All the threads also look good. There is, however, a tiny bit (we're talking maybe a tear drop) of standing fluid at the back of the hole, and most of the hole appears to be somewhat wet.

I should also note that this hole did *not* have a bolt in it for the last year. I had 3 of the 4 bolts holding the bracket to the block (yes, I know I should've fixed that sooner).

I'm hoping it's just crud that got in between the block and bracket since there was no bolt there, and just random fluid in the hole.

I will know for sure after I clean it out tonight.

There is no oil galley behind the mount holes, is there?

That hole should be the coolant water jackets behind there... But I could be wrong.

Id also agree with this
but they sell this thing at a lot of auto stores that you pour into your oil and shine a black light and it will turn diffenert colors
not sure exactly how it works but its worth a shot

if it only leaked that much in 14 mns then i wouldn't worry that much. But like said above just put some silicone on a bolt and screw it in,that sould fix the leak.

I REALLY doubt that's coming out of that hole there. I'd look elsewhere.
