I was driving earlier today and hit a bump and after i had passed through the intersection, i felt something dragging on the road, so i pulled over and looked, found out that the driver side mount had snapped from the actual engine.
Now, i know someone used to sell a bracket that would bolt to the front of the block then to the back of the head to replace that side mount, but they went out of business awhile back. =(
Any advice on how to fix this problem? Some of the casting on the block had snapped clean off, and one bolt had broke in half. Don't ask me how it happened, i have no idea.
I'll have pictures up sometime later when its light outside, but in meanwhile, does anyone have any ideas? I've searched and haven't had any luck.
Thanks in advance.

You could try and have it welded but as the other two have said I think it's best to just find a new block. Heck maybe you can use this as an advantage to get a few upgrades in there.

dang =\
i had just dropped the motor in as well.
Its a poorman r, but that mount was bolted up to the block already when i had purchased the long block. And the shop that i bought the longblock from, said they cant do anything about it because i had looked at the block before i bought it, but i never thought the mount would be fu**ed up..
I'm thinking about fabricating some bracket that bolts to the a/c mount, and goes to the back of the head to hold the motor up. I dont know how well it would work, but its worth a try. lol

Thanks for all the advice, if i decide to fabricate a bracket, i'll show some steps how i made it.
But, whatever i decide, i'll keep this thread updated.

That's gnarly.. I've seen this happen once. We were out racing and a guy was on a slicks and he caught traction so hard the tapped threads into the block for the mount broke just like that.
It could be welded and retapped very easily though.
Better question; why in the hell do you have the timing covers off?
