Default shifting is hard

i have a 94 integra with about 85k on it. the clutch has never been replaced. anyway, after taking a long trip, i noticed that shifting got noticably harder. even putting the car in first was difficult. sometimes i would grind also. this happened with every gear, 1-5.
i'm guessing my clutch is going or my sychros are messed. i was going change the tranny fluid hoping that would solve the problem but i haven't had any time. i drove the car like this for about 1.5 months. i know
on the way home today, i stalled with the clutch fully depressed! i started the car again and my tranny shift's like butter now! wtf?? what's going on? any suggestions? i hope i'll just have to change the fluid.

Maybe your clutch needs to be bled? Sounds like it doesn't always disengage completely.

whoa, i totally forgot about this thread. well here's the update... i still haven't done anything to the teg. sometimes at a light, it would lock me out of all gears. i would turn the car off and on again, and then it would shift. you said i answered my question but which was the answer? changing the tranny fluid?? i hope so

Maybe, but I vote for bleeding the clutch fluid. It sounds like your clutch is dragging, means it doesn't disengage completely. Then the synchros lock you out of gear. I bet when that happens, if you try reverse it'll grind rather than block you out. That's 'cause reverse doesn't have a synchro.

Do the cheap stuff first, clutch fluid & transmission fluid. But you might have to replace your clutch master cylinder if it keeps leaking down. When it works, does your clutch engage smoothly, or does it shudder as you engage it? If it shudders, then maybe you need the clutch itself.

Get a new one if changing fluid doesnt work.
