Default Question about the transmission

Whats up guys ever since i purchased the car about 4 months ago the car has been giving trouble to go into reverse sometimes.....like i would try to put it in reverse but it just wont pop in i have to try several times....it does not do this all the time but it gets annoying and it also does it going into first as well i have to give it a little gas and ease off the clutch for it to pop in sometimes, any ideas???......also i have a 5th gear grind when im going above 60 i was told it could be the syncro's (spell check) any ideas on that as well??....the car has 109k miles on it and im assuming it is the original transmission and everything

sounds like your clutch on the not going into reverse thing...and yeah thats probably your syncronizers goin bad. maybe be your clutch but sounds like syncro's.

maybe...it might be good to do since it has 109k on it. but check your tranny fluid and clutch fluid before you spend all that money. it might not be well lubricated. but sometimes cars are hard to get into reverse. as long as you can put it in 1-5 ok then i would hold off. i have heard the same thing but have never used it. so idk. good luck tho.

I also have a question about this, d16y8 tranny, it's hard as hell to get mine into first gear if I'm moving at all, any speed between .1mph and 10mph pretty much. 126k on it. Synchro problem?

No, doesn't always mean the clutch is going. I replace a cluch a few months ago and it still had trouble going into reverse (and yyyeeesss it was installed correctly). It's common for Hondas, and a lot of cars for that matter, to have a hard time shifting into reverse. Most of the Hondas I've owned had this problem, and not all the ones that did had bad clutches.

The 5th gear thing may be a syncro issue or even a miss aligned/bent/damaged linkage, maybe.

cool cool thanks guys its good to hear that its not just my car as far as the whole reverse thing goes....but i will try to bleed the clutch and just to make things a little smoother, i will also check the linkage to see if there is any damage

when i add synchromesh do i need to mix it with tranny fluid??.....anyone ever use it?

Just remember I'm not saying it's not your clutch 100%.

GM Syncromesh is tranny fluid. Personally I only use Honda MTF.
