Default Setting ignition timing

Ok, I know how its done etc but was just wondering where to you position yourself to see whether the marks line up with the arrow on the timing belt cover. I noticed that there is a big difference if you look from the side vs. looking at it front on. So what exactly is the proper "technique"? from the front or side? And since the arrow is sloped do i line my eye directly behind the arrow?

Thanks

Line the flash up with the pointer arrow on the timing belt cover, as long as u line the flash up with that pointer should be fine.

Yeah, i just found that reading it from the side of the car opposed to the front of the car makes a lot of difference in the reading.
