Default safe to reuse mugen headgasket?

I am going to have to replace the valve seals on my rebuilt B16, it was the machine shops fault so they will do the seals if i bring in the head...

the motor only has like 2000 easy miles on it, can i use the mugen head gasket again with the stock head bolts that were also replaced with the rebuild.

maybe just give it another spray with some copper spray TIA

think of it this way:

what IF it leaks? you dont want to go through the trouble of taking off the heads again do you?

id have to say, dont do it.

I reused a stock headgasket before; cleaned it up real good and put it back on. I was in a jam, dealership was closed and i needed to get the car running.

i guess the worst that could happen if i reuse the head gasket is that it will leak and then ill have to change it but that is a lot of work

I will never reuse a headgasket but that's just me... Chances are you'll be able to get it to seal again with the use of copper spray as hybridvteceg stated but that's no me... Other people on here such as TimoneX have reused their headgaskets numerous times and save ~$60 a time but oh well... I just only like using new stuff... I don't care if you ruined a headgasket to clay a motor and never even ran it, I still won't do it... It's really all up to you... Latez

I would use brake cleaner or aircraft paint stripper to take off the old spray, clean off any excess residue then re-copper spray both sides of the gasket... Peace

I know the head gasket is metal... but will brake cleaner and aircraft stripper be safe to use on it?

I don't know if the aircraft paint stripper contains anything that would hurt it... BUT, I always atleast break clean (even brand new headgaskets) to rid them of any grease, dust, etc... Never had a problem with sealing after that... So I'm sure it's fine... Good Luck and if I'm ever wrong be sure to let me know, hehe... Peace

if your careful and do everything to spec and mae sure that bitchis nice and clean there is a good chance you can get away with it......

choices...
1 buy a new one....
2 try re-using if it works your gold.
if it doesn't you buy a new one and say **** atleast i tried...

hah, ok but you're just contradicting yourself. i guess i just don't see why you wouldn't bite the bullet and just buy the new one to begin with and absolve any problems that might come up. not trying to flame you, just having a hard time seeing your point of view.

Well the gasket is only like one month old and i dont feel like throwing another $120 away unless i have to... My point of view, is to save money
