Default S40 Shift Forks on a S20 ???

Well had problems with my last S20 tranny and never got it figured it out, so am replacing it with another S20.......I been reading that the S20 have AL shift forks, and the S40 have steel....... I originally pulled a S40 from my car, was wondering:

If i could swap my S40 shifter forks into my S20 or would they not work with the sliders?

Any help would be great

Thanks

S40 forks wont work in an S20 case and vice versa. You can use the S40 forks with the S40 case and use S20 parts for the rest of the tranny though. Personally I like the S20 forks better, S40 in my expirence seem to have wear issues with the 3rd/4th shift fork. If you look at the forks you'll see that the aluminum forks are designed to be quite strong, they are reinforced in a way the steel ones aren't.
