I would get the rust off the presure plate forks that will cause shifting problems like grinding when switching gears.

Also is that oil on the block behind the flywheel and on the flywheel if so I'd fix that to while its out.

when they resurface ur flywheel it will be new and shinny but the pressure plate u should prob clean the rust off and it should all be dried b4 u put it back together..im not sure wut to use to clean it but i dont see no harm in using brake cleaner

Damn, is that oil all over everything? Clean off any oil in that area because if it gets on the clutch disk you're screwed. I would just use a heavy duty degreaser on all surfaces, except the disk. Hopefully the disk doesn't have any oils or crap on it. Then clean the surface of the PP and flywheel with denatured alcohol and you should be ready for assembly. If the flywheel's disk surface has a decent amount of rust on it that you can't get off then take it to get resurfaced. That can run you between $30-$50 depending on the place.

reviving this thread. I have a longblock with the flywheel already on. It has oxidized and there is a good amount of rust on it. Not so much that it cannot be removed myself. I was wondering if the back side of the flywheel has to be cleaned also or can I get away with just cleaning the surface that mates to the pressure plate ?
