Default Running too rich..

My civic is running too rich for some reason to the point where it misfires back fires and stalls when given throttle, some times some white smoke would come out of the intake, not all the time tho..
I can smell gas a lot,
I keep checking and changing the plugs. ALL PLUGS ARE FUEL FOULED every time... so now somethings is causing the engine to flood.. but not wet just dry carbon-ed up

only CEL is IAT temp and o2 from unplugged, but those things should not cause the engine to do that..

tps is on specs
IACV clean
Timing is on point

Everything is connected and wired up good. I was thinking it was a leaky injector but then again, a leaky injector would not cause all the plugs to be fouled like that.

it sounds like it its burning too much gas and cant keep up with the air ratio i guess.. but not sure why this is happening.. no leaks..
Took out the plugs overnight to let excessive gas in cylinder to evaporate for 24 hrs and this morning went to start same thing.. burning too much fuel

Here is a pic of one of the plugs

Sounds like a timing issue. Make sure your mechanical timing is spot on. Just a thought...

I re read your post. Iat and o2 will cause those symptoms. Fix them.

If timing is good then I agree with mouab18c1. Get those fixed.

no thats not that problem.

it feels like its choking and needs air, when i feather the throttle it wants to rev but then dies,

i checked all 4 injectors while car is running, they were all clicking and working..
feels like the motor is choking

when first started it well rev up to 2 then come down under 1 and stay around 500 idling like it wants to die but wont unless given gas or sometimes after a while it dies alone..

i unplugged the fuel pump fuse to see if i was running too rich and after that i tried to start her up and she did not want to start, and right after i plugged back the fuse she started up right away... feels like its not getting enough air or something,
like i said when given throttle she will die

need some help input please

Fix the IAT and O2 sensor so the CEL goes away.

Could be a few things:
MAP sensor
Primary O2
Bad fuel
Valve clearance

Also, check thermostat. A faulty thermostat will cause the car to run rich.

If your thermostat is stuck open then the coolant is going to be colder than it should. The ECU is reading that the car is not warmed up thus supplying more fuel. The engine could also be running in open loop, which is based off a preset map and is typically richer than MAP or O2 readings.

I had this problem not long ago, at idle my HC was 184 and CO was 1.2. When I fixed the thermostat the numbers were 69 and 0.12.

That's actually a very great question. Nine times out of ten, the last thing done to the car is the culprit.

For example, someone posts "my car wont start" but fails to mention that they just installed a car stereo without removing the battery terminals and accidentally popped a fuse.

Okay I have code 3 now, which is MAP sensor.

I messed with it today, unplugged it and plugged it back and reset ecu and started good, no more misfire no sputtering or rough idle..

then it did it again.. still throwing MAP code.

I have 2 map sensors both are known in good working condition, i kept swapping both and resetting the ecu, sometimes it will work sometimes it will not.

I also unplugged the map to see what happens, and rough idle went away and idle stays on 800, but once given gas shuts off.

Here is the other problem, when i was messing with the map and had it working good, as soon as i shut the car off and turn it back on, it will go back to reading a bad map

its not sending the right air/fuel mixture into the engine, thus making it run rich, and causing misfiring and fouled plugs

Does your MAP have the o-ring on the bottom? It sounds silly but I've seen dozens of times where the o-ring falls off which causes an air leak.

car will throw the map sensor code, o2 and IAT while car is running.

but when turned off it will only throw the IAT code ..weird

when my MAP is plugged got rough idle and goes up and down slowly sounds like it wants to die, when i remove the MAP plug it says steady smooth 800, but will not rev of course cause map is unplugged.

just tried 3 map sensor all known working... no luck.

I had it idling perfect about 3 hours ago, no misfiring no rough idling it was revving up smooth, and steady idle.. This was when i was playing with the map sensor/plug..

Also i tested the volt on the map yellow/orange wire and it was 5volts
