Running a stock P07 on D15B VTEC, cause problems?
Well, long story short, I swapped a D15B VTEC into my CRX... I bought what I thought, and what the guy told me, was a P28... Turns out when I went to use it, I got no VTEC... So I did some digging, and found the motherboard is from a P07 (92-95 Civic VX ECU) it just in a P28 case...
Well this is fine for now, car seems to be working fine, except no VTEC... But I was reading (during my research) that a P07 ECU will run lean... Something about the injectors on the VX... So my question is, will running this ECU cause me problems if I run it until I get a P28?
And another question, the VX uses a wide band 5 wire O2 right? And also has EGR? Well, then since Im running a 4 wire, and no EGR, shouldnt I be throwing codes left and right? But Im not...

Does your CEL ever illuminate? Maybe you have a bad bulb or he cut the corresponding trace in the ECU. You should have several fault codes if it is a true P07.
Yea, when I jump the CEL wires it stays on continually... That means its working right?
Your the guy who wrote that how-to convert the "1720" board to a VTEC board on PGMFI.org right?
I may just get this baby chipped... But I need something to run it in the meantime...

If the CEL illuminates when you jump the service connector, it is working.
I only made the last revision to that page in the wiki. I don't remember who deserves credit for the original post.
Which board is your ECU? If it is 02D01720 you are in luck, and it can be chipped. If it is a 02D01560, you are screwed at this time.

Luckily, its the 02D01720...
Heres a pic of it... Shows the P28 sticker, and then the board number...

So if its not throwing a code, this ECU should run fine without messing up the engine some how?
I plan on getting a P28 ASAP...

But what about the board number? There were P28s that shared the same board with the P07s? Im going by the board number, and I have no VTEC activation and its wired correctly...
Nm, I found some pics with the P28... Apparently, the older boards are the same as the rare P07s...

I just found that one article and suspected I had been screwed...
Thanks so much for the help man!
