Default Running rich problem

Right now my b20/vtec is running rich... it is using a chipped p28 with a mugen program, but its running rich and making the cat go bad... if i were to get a vafc can that adjust the fuel and air enough to fix this problem? because i have a warranty on the cat, but the shop said they wont replace it any more unless i fix the problem.... so please let me know if a vafc can fix this prolema, gracias

yes, the VAFC would be a good option in your situation. It will allow you to fine tune the air fuel ratio and probably will help you make more power with some dyno tuning. if you really want to get into it more then I would suggest looking into uberdata or hondata.

and what exactly is going bad with the cat? ive never heard of a NEW cat being ruined quick from running rich. how rich are you running? my g/f has the skunk2 program in her b16 sol and it runs a little rich as well. when she gets on it you can see little bit of fuel burning out the back. she has the stock cat that prolly has 150k on it and it has been fine for about a year.

well its weird because the old cat that came with the car was fine for the whole time, but when i got a new exhaust system, that cat was welded to the stock one, i had the local shop put in a carsound cat, and those are the ones that have been going bad... he said its running rich and making it get too hot, so then the thing on the inside is getting messed up

what i dont understand is why you're even using a cat? ....why dont you just use a straight pipe or test pipe or even a hollowed cat. You're running a hybrid motor and ecu why even use a cat? A cat just retricts the flow?.....

running rich will cause the cat to overheat but it would have to be extremely rich, try to get a wideband on that bitch and see exactly where your at
