Default running with no thernostat?????

what are some pov on this topic. i recently took mine out on my gsr swapped crx. the reason being, my temp gauge would registar kinda hott espically if driving on the freeway for more then 20 minutes. but if i turned the lights off, the temp would go down. and it would fluciate there after. unfortunatley, this problem continues even after removal of the thermostat.

its just a bandaid for a cooling issue that needs to be addressed.

1. Look for coolant leaks.
2. Check for obvious signs of headgasket failure (Coolant/oil).
3. Check condition of rad cap.
4. Check condition of radiator, and operation of cooling fan.
5. Verrify the car is actually running hot, and is not just a gauge error.

I can go on and on.

cool, if it seems like a gauge error, id start by checking out your grounds. A friends car had a very similar problem due to a faulty ground in the engine bay, I believe it was near the trans.

good luck

Some good advice given abaove. Grounding for the gauge is important, and so is an engine running at the designed temperature. Never just remove the T-stat to "fix" a high temp condition,
