Default running on 2 cylinders, cel 7, cel 14 ???

So I searched and searched and couldnt find what I needed.

I just put a d16y7 in my 95 cx, I used the cx ecu harness and accessories, when It came time to get the motor started it started right up but runs like *** and throws phantom codes 7 & 14, so I replaced both the tps and iacv off of my old motor that I know to be good. Still throws the codes after clearing them. Now it seems to be running on only cylinders 1 and 4, I checked the timing, firing order and replaced plugs and wires. The dizzy is off of a good running car. Its getting fuel and spark (injectors off of good running car as well.) so what the expletive could be causing all this???

Using the obd2 dizzy, all the wires good for sure? Try using a not cx ecu, prolly lean for the y7, get it chipped or a p05, that's a closer match for the engines.

obd1 dizzy, chipped po5 running p06 maps, all plug wires are good and switching them or removing the 2 and 3 cylinder plugs do nothing. I cut j1 and ran the stock cx maps to thinking it was a bad chip but it didnt help.

Sounds like bad wiring and/or a bad ECU. Find a wiring diagram for your application and trace each wire making sure there are no shorts and that the wires are going to the right place. If all wiring is okay, swap out the ECU.

Do you have a constant cel? Idle really high? Like a 3k rev limit? If not I doubt it's a bad ecu.

How do you know the ECU is good? Try your ECU in another car that's known to be good. ( Don't try another one in your car.. you might fry it if you have a wiring issue ). If the ECU really is good by this test, then it's your wiring.. hands down.

If it's not throwing a solid cel, it's not the ecu. And it's not the chip cuz a bad chip is solid cel and it wouldn't affect that random ****.

Wow.. you're ignorant. Just because it's not throwing a solid CEL doesn't mean that a driver isn't fried dumbass. It's people like you who **** me off thinking you know everything. Check the damn ECU in a known car that isn't throwing codes.

Trust me.. I spent a few hours with Blundar trying to fix my car. He fixed the wiring, still threw code14. Got another ECU and voila. No solid CEL jackass. Then he spent 15min trying to replace a few chips on the board and finally decided it wasn't worth it, so I just replaced the ECU.

for your giving of misinformation.

Well, he says the ecu is good, and the fact that he just put this swap together (is what it sounds like) should mean that the ecu has not had time from when he knew it to be good to fail. Excuse me for thinking I know everything, I certainly know nothing about wiring, but I do not think that ecus are likely to die randomly compared to DIY wiring which seems hit or miss unless you're really good.

I'm sorry, , feel free to hurt me physically if you would like.

Hmm, I've just had lots of pains in the *** with ecu stuff in my car, and I would always think it was something in specific then it turned out to be something annoying like meh, I dun even know. I am an *** though, I'll give you that.

EDIT: I wish you would kick my *** though, since I've become a pacifist I've always wanted to get beaten on and not defend myself.

The crank and cam timing is on but I have no timing cover to check the ignition timing??? but I got it all figured out and the car is running fairly smooth now. I did a compression check and saw good numbers and rechecked fuel and spark so I decided to play with the tps since I kept throwing that code. turns out when I replaced the bad tps I missed the little key that turns the sensor with the throttle, after I got that sorted out it ran alot better which allowed me to realize that there were some other small things wrong.
