RPM's Not working
Hey, my rpms are not working, the gauge will move some times, but its usually on zero rpm's, someone told me it was the ignition control mod. so i changed the whole dizzy, and still nothing, i checked all the wires in the engine bay, and they all look fine. any idea's?
i have a mulitimeter, i was gona check the gauge next, i had an alarm put in the car, maybe one of the wires got lose, i had the alarm put in about 6 months ago, now the rpg gauge is acting up. i'll pull the cluster, thanks for the help guy. oh and the new dizzy i put in, was defective, car had no acceleration, i adjusted it and everything, put the old dizzy back in and now it runs fine. never buy a $100 dizzy from ebay lol
The first thing I would do is check the alarm install, was it done properly?
Does the alarm work?
I would pull the cluster and test the tach signal, [blue] there, that way if there is no signal you know it's not the tach and, if you haven't already, test for tach signal at distributor and if there is tach signal there, find the break.
On the other hand, you have a good tach signal at the cluster plug, find a new tach/cluster. 94

That's why you buy car parts from the Auto Parts stores. At least they have a warrenty. Sometimes you do get what you pay for...

i checked the wires going to the tach, there is power, a friend of mine has a cluster for 40 bucks, im gona pick that up this week, the alarm was done at a shop and does work. also on the dizzy, only reason why i bought it online was because of the high prices for them and didnt have the cash for it, plus at my job they wanted $285 for a dizzy. so ordered a new one at my job, and took the defective one and droped it in the new dizzy box, and defected it
