RELOCATING hood release cable
Whats going on guys? I was wondering where some of you guys have relocated your release cable. I would first like to say i feel for all the guys that have had their cars stolen and just trying to prevent it from happening to me. I do live on a naval base with a alarm system and a removeable steering wheel and a NRG removable hub and lock. I did feel safe until delivery boys were saying " hey your the guy that drives the ek hatch". Any help is appericated.
You honestly think a relocated hood release cable will stop anyone? Doesnt take much to open the latch behind the grill, I've done it few times when the cable snapped from the lever.
If anything a fuel pump kill switch hidden somewhere will do much more.

Anything that slows down the crook is a good thing, although I do agree a "kill switch" would be much more effective, I would do both.
Rerouting the hood release cable is easy, pull it out of the fender and feed it into the engine bay through the firewall then to the hood latch. 94

have you heard of any cars getting jacked from a base? Im on one too. i figure thats the safest place for it. i know they might tow it if you leave it in one spot for too long though. happend to this guys 240sx...
your right it is one of the safest places but if someone once it bad enough they'll get it. I like i said in my previous post delivery boys already know what i drive a come on the base just about everyday. Reason im asking about hiding the cable is because one of the guys thats a delivery boy hangs around this kids that are own for stealing hondas. to answer your question i havent heard of anyone getting their car stolen on base.
The thing is if someone wants your car bad enough they will get it. My boy in arizona had a badass security system, fuel cut off, removable steering wheel, and the cable re-routed for the hood. Still some jack *** had it towed down the street where they striped it. Sucks but thats life.
why do people on here have this mentality? Yes you`re right if someone wants your car bad enough they will try their best to get it. If you`re boy`s car got stolen, it`s his fault. The alarm is only as good as the guy who installed it.
OP to answer your q as someone already mentioned just reroute it inside the engine bay

Second your saying if your car gets stolen its because someone didn't hook up the alarm correctly?
Wow i recently just joined H-T about two weeks ago but if you came on Realhometurbo.com you would probably get banned for a dumb a$$ post like this.
you`re the dumbass. if you read the post above mine you`ll see who I am talkin about. I was just gonna post a pictured thread to help you out.
This one... "Yes you`re right if someone wants your car bad enough they will try their best to get it"
It is hardly the owners fault if his/her car gets stolen, that would be the car thief's fault and only the thief's fault.
You could lay some blame on the owner if he/she left the keys in the ign. and put a STEAL ME THE KEYS ARE IN THE IGN., sign on the car and even then it's still the the thief's fault for making the desition to actually take the car.
Your right, kind of, the quote is, "the alarm is only as good as the install" not "as good as the installer" but again, that still does not make it the owners fault or the installers fault, no matter how good or bad of an installer he is. 94
Put it this way, if you want your car NOT get stolen, then YOU try YOUR best NOT to get it stolen. If it gets stolen its your fault, should`ve done much better preventative measures than an alarm installed by a John Doe at Circuit City.
I don`t wanna stray off topic there`s the thread you need http://causeforalarm.thecarthing.com...ble/index.html

Ummm i think you read this wrong, his car was towed to an alley and stripped how is that his or his security system installers fault??? Good job on thinking that reply through before you wrote it though....
Preventative measures are just that.
But it's like saying if you get hit by a stray bullet it's your fault you didn't have a flack jacket on. Or if you get hit by a drunk driver it's your fault because you should have anticipated that he was drunk. Or if your brother pees in your shoes, it's your fault because you left your shoes there.
There's only so much you can do, but if someone wants those rims, 4 locks will not stop them if they must have it. If someone wants that car, they'll get it. There's nothing a flatbed and winch wont be able to take care of.
As for cars getting stolen on base, I only know of one. It was in Miramar and whoever stole it took it to mexico, It was found being driven as normal, iirc. Older mitsu galant + rims and sytem.
