Default rpm/ v-tech help

1: everything on my cluster works but the rpm. i have jdm ctr cluster in my 1998 civic hatch with k24 swap. i have an AEM ecu as well. some one had suggested to run a wire from the ecu directly to the tach and i could just tap into the wires without cutting. if i were to do that, what wires am i splicing? do i have an other option instead?
2: also, my mph works fine and just recently changed the v-tech solenoid. when i open up my car, hitting rev limit on gears 1,2,3 the v-tech isnt kicking in. how do i get my v-tech to work?

thank you very much in advance for suggestions and help.
