rotating the crankshaft
some people use a socket and rachet to rotate the crankshaft when making valve adjustments and you have to turn counterclockwise for a honda engine. if you rotate the crankshaft counterclockwise, is there a limit on how much you could rotate it? coz when i tried rotating mine, it lets me rotate only about close to 1 turn and it won't move anymore, i didn't try harder anymore coz i'm afraid i might break something. is that normal? or should the crankshaft keep on rotating as long as your turningt the bolt?
i did mine while the front is on jack stands and tranny in neutral.

keep going.
it gets harder/easier at certan points.
remember you are moving 4 pistons and a heavy crank. not to mention cams and valves connected to springs.

I rebember when I first got my swap i tried to turn it with the plugs in the I almost tipped the motor over on my foot.
<---done it. But with a V8. Luckily it only pinched my toe..
so you guys are saying that it should turn all the way no matter how many?
coz when i first turn it counterclockwise, it turned very easily without having to exert much force. then after about 1 turn, it just won't move anymore, not one bit like something is blocking it. i then turn it clockwise to the original position, again it turned easily but about 1 turn clockwise, it gets stuck again.
by the way, i'm turning with only 3 cylinders coz i blew the #4 coz of detonation.

You blew number 4? Is there internal damage do you know? Maybe there's something blocking it..

cylinders 1-3 seems ok from underneath(oil pan removed) but #4 piston/rods was shattered. i took all the bits and pieces out before turning it, i didn't take off the plugs maybe that explains why it's hard to turn at some point. anyway, thanks guys.
