Rod Bearing screw up.
Okay, the local honda dealership ordered me some bearings for my b18c1, actually i told them it was for an Si, but anyway. They got here and they are slightly wider than the ones that were originally on the rods. I'm stressin. I opened one, so i'm suck with it, but i guess i'll have to return the other 9.
Pretty shitty eh.
You know, i almost knew that, but damn, i just didn't think it through. The Main Bearings were the same, at least.
Anyone else ever delt with that?

If you told them it was for an SI, you got the wrong bearings.
SI Rod bearings are wider then B18C rod bearings, but I guess you found that out the hard way.
You need to get the rod bearings from Acura.

Well that sucks...Sorry about that i wish i could help but i cant...But in the future the b16a and the LS share the same rod bearing and the GSR and the ITR share the same too...But if you need Rod bearing for a b18c1 i know where you can get ACLs for a really good price and they are much better the stock...Its called DFE enterprises in Jacksonville FL..Ask for Don....904-378-4480...

if the acl bearings are better who professionally uses them and why does the dodge nascar team use the factory bearings and hot rod recommends resizing chevy rods to use honda rod bearings because of the loss of friction . nopt arguing but if they are better why are they better. and do they come in standard sizes or do they come in the color codes. just need info
I thought that ALL of Nascar used Clevite bearings.

The reason that the Dodge NASCAR teams use "factory" bearings is that when the engineering group drew up the engine they made all the parts and sizes to the optimum for reduced friction but still strong enough to last. hese sizes fit no other chrysler parts (find me a 358CI Stratus) they then farmed out the bearing manufacture to a bearing co. Clevitte, who makes the bearings for them, the only place to buy them is from Chrysler, fairley simple. Honda Motor Company does not make engine bearings, they buy them from 2 different mfg. the company logos are on the back of the bearing (NDK) and I do not recall the other. The Honda bearing in Chevys were some custom cranks and rods with smaller dia. and width to reduce friction, used for some NASCAR qualifying motors and adapted to some other racing , that size was used as it was a common size over the counter bearing. Go to NAPA and tell them you want a set of rod bearings for your 358 CI Dodge V-8, there aren't any, by the way Cosworth,BMW, and Mercedes don't make bearings either, they have them made.
With a slight champhor cut you can use d16 bearings in the b18c rods. I've done it many times.
I have refreshed many race engines by different builders and have found ACL bearings used by the following builders:
JG Engine Dynamics
Benson Machine
RS Motorworks
Holeshot
G & S
Jojo Callos
Laskey Racing (oh wait, that's me)
ACL has the same quality as Honda, always in stock and half the price. I stock for all Honda motors.

Well Earl, if you want to make some money, my rod bearing colors were green, green, black, and green. I'd be all about a set of ACL's if you know which ones i need.
