Default rod bearing clearance

Would going "ten over" for my rod bearing clearance cause my oil pump to fail and shatter? I blew my oil pump (fixed within 24 hrs) and I think it was from my unorthadox pulley that caused it to shatter, but i have other ppl telling me that if you dont go with factory specs on bearing clearances, that could put stresss on the oil pump making it work harder..is this true? thx

was this a high hp motor??? i can guarantee its was the after market crank pulley u had on there alot of times they (aftermarket) do not balance them and casues alot of vibration at high rpms... this happen to a sport fwd race car that i know here in town .. leave those aftermarket (crap) pulleys alone and geta nice fluid filled one gonna cost u lil cheese though, but very worth it if u ask me

as long as u got the the crank ground down properly and the proper bearings (.10 over) u should have no problems, if assembled correctly that is...

Must be the pullies, You pump will pump the same as is would regardless of clearance, the only thing that would get effected by clearance is your oil pressure.
Just check you oil pressure after everything is set up, fast idle at i think 3500 rpm and that will give you your max oil pressure.

Solid pullies are so unrealiable, you really need some sort of vibration damping device on your crank unless you have the cash to blow.

Tony, your bearing clearances were measured with the .10 over bearings taken into consideration, so that wouldn't have anything to do with it.

It's that pulley.

I assembled about 5 papers for you guys on crank dynamics and harmonics here: http://www.mtggraphics.com/big...a.htm

Your pump failed because of no effective harmonic damper... in all likelihood
