I'd make sure you keep packin grease in until you can get a new boot. If you don't hear clickin or popping you'll probably be ok with just buyin a new boot.

You can just get away with a boot if you do it soon. However, you can buy a new axle for $60 with a lifetime warranty, and you'll save a lot of labor. That would be my choice, so if in the future you rip another boot, you don't have to pay anything.

I agree with Parsons. If the boot was ripped, any dirt that gets in there will cause the joint to fail in time so you might as well replace the whole axle as opposed to replacing the boot and then having to do the whole axle later on.

The ones you get from stores like that are re-manufactured. Thats why they want you to bring your old core back.

Yes, you need a new joint. It's the CV joint that will go bad and start clicking. The way to fix it is a new axle. The axle comes with the CV joint on it. Rarely do other things go bad with axles, like breaking one in half with extreme applications.

Replace the whole axle this will save you a lot of time I did mine for around $75 after I returned the core.
