Default rev limit with built ls motor?

B18b head-
with a wild port and polish job, crower stage 3 cams, crower springs and retainers, new valves, and a larger fuel pump with a 2 or 1 layer head gasket with 2 layer ill be pushing out about 11:7 compression and with the 1 layer ill be pushing 12. what does everybody think i should do to get max power (92 octane) should i mill my head at all since compression is already going to be high?
B18b block-
jdm ctr pistons .025 oversized, machined to my ls rods and balanced, and a machined crank

P.S. I will also be running a hondata stage 4 programed ecu

you could probably make good/safe power up to about 8000rpm........anything more than that you would be risking throwing one of those stock LS rods out the bottom of the pan....

with all the work you have done to the motor, just get those rods shotpeened and install ARP rod bolts! Then get them resized.

I have an LS running to 8.5k all day with no problems at all. It cost me 150 bucks to have the rods done. I would not mill the head, cuz I am 11.4:1 running on 93 octane and I was a little affraid at initial startup. I also do not have Hondata though!

if i were to get the 2 layer head gasket what would my compression be with jdm ctr's and what cams should i use with that and if i got my rods built and machined what should i chip my ecu to with my hondata?

If going with aftermarket rods and CTR pistons and 2 ply head gasket, along with all of your above mods, you should be able to make power to roughly 8700 rpm. (possibly even 9000 rpm)

This is, of course, with proper tuning to match.

Do you program your own Hondata? If not, do you have someone that does reprogramming for you? If not, I know someone that does

thanx for the reply!

i have someone that does the programing but where do you know of, just to compare?

another thing no one has answered my question yet will my jdm ctr's in my ls block with mild cams be a good combination or will i detonate?

If possible, use 94 Octane or else make sure you do both dyno tune and road tune the ECU or you're be pinging, especially under moderate load.

I have Stage 2 cams with CTR's and 93 octane. Mine is fine so yours should be too. I was worried at first also.

I would suggest aggainst the thin layer head gasket I would rather run a three layer and have my head milled. you have to have a perfectly flat surface to run a 1 layer. i'd only run a 2 layer at the least

also another option is to run jdm p30s.

you don't necisarily have to worry about the compression of the ctr's but more of the shape of that pistons dome, I would advise against the ctr's.but do as you wish
