reliablity of this setup

Default reliablity of this setup

ok i want to biuld an ls/vtec.. i dont plan on reving it past 8200
stock b16a1 head
b18b bottom end
itr pistons
arp head and rod bolts
new type r oil and water pump
new seals and gaskets
and i was thinking of useing the tapered dowel rods that i have been seeing around on the board
any of your opinions and suggestions are welcome

if u not reving past 8200 y get ls/vtec...just get a gsr or b16...keep it stokc has enough HP and enough rpms for u...ls/vtec is for peeps squeekin ever hp outta the car not peopel rev to only 8200 and concerned wit realiablity ...just my thoughts on the subject

If you plan on racing it every day its not gonna last as long compared to just a normaly driven car.It should last awhile though.

Thats Set-up sounds very Good! ..but try to get the rods Shotpeened too..and check specs after shotpeening. if i had a LS block i would do:
B18B
B16 head (Type-R Valves and Lost Motion Assemblys)
JDM B16 pistions (highest OEM compression ratio next to CTR)
Shotpeened LS rods
CTR Cams
and No Short Cuts!!! ..build it correctly..! ..so LS/CR-VTEC doesnt get more bad rep!!!
edit: oh yeah, of course the ARP head and rod bolts new gaskets and seals and new bearing! ..a lot of talk about ACL bearings...(?)

how much does a set of shotpeened rods cost? and does anyone already sell them shotpeened?

you can just go to a machine shop and have it done..i think its like $100 bucks...but then you gotta get em checked...might cost more...

another question i know that you have to take 1mm off each side of the rod but i would rather do that to the piston. how much do you all think that would cost?
