Default retap or heli-coil

i was just wondering what would be best in my scenario...
the spark plug hole is not stripped all the way. there is a middle section in the thread in which the threads are stripped out, but other than that the threads are fine.
*for example, starting from the top of the head the threads are fine... then going into the middle of the head the threads are stripped out(just 2 or 3 threads), and then going in closer to the combustion chamber the threads are fine.

should i just retap it or should i heli-coil the thing?

kindof like this... http://justatv.com/pages/heli_...l.htm

*btw, this is on a gsr head. i would like to keep the consistency(sp) of the material to the same as possible to prevent any different materials from expanding at different rates(if you know what i mean).

Well definitely re-tapping is where you want to start. Especially since the beginning of the threads are still good and there is no risk of cross-threading.

I honestly wouldn't heli-coil it. You'd be surprised how much a tap can fix up ruined threads. I tapped an o2 bung that was so horribly fucked up that you couldn't even tell it was ever threaded. After the tap, good as new.
