resurfacing
I just got a valve job done on my cylinder head and it came back a little scratched up. The three in the second pic are the ones that I'm concerned about most. The one in the middle is the worst scratch, but the one on the end clearly shows the type of scratches I'm dealing with. When I drag my finger nail across the scratch, I can feel the uneven surface.
Will I have any problems with the head gasket sealing with the cylinder head in this condition? If so, is there any way around fixing this with out getting the head resurfaced?
thanks

Thanks for the reply.
I'll spend the next few days trying to figure out what you meant. In the meantime, can anyone please help me out. I/m quite serious about this. My car has been down for a month now. Any help is appreciated!

see, this is why I hate seeing any head laying on its deck.
Ive even seen port & polish shops show pics of customers' heads laying around with the chamber side facing down.
When a head is shipped, it should be upsidedown in the package
and an arrow indicating this side up.
I don't think it'll be good with the deep ones nearest to the chamber. Scratches connecting to any galley or chamber are a no-no.
Welding wouldn't be a good option because the scratches aren't big enough, and welding always causes some warpage. You might want to find a good aluminum filler material (aluminum epoxy), fill and pack in the cracks. Then get it milled to spec.

I would bitch and complain, **** and moan to whom ever did this valve job for you. They screwed up your head! I know valve jobs are not cheap but did this shop have a 4 yr. old do it?
