Default What to replace when pulling a cylinder head?

Is there anything that needs to be replaced when pulling a cylinder head? I dont mean just because you have it off (i just replaced all the gaskets and seals not to long ago) I'm talking about something that if I dont replace it, something will mess up (btw I am replacing the head bolts with arp studs) see my post on head studs for more background if needed

Bull. neither you or I can state it in all certainty what needs to be done. Once the head is off, one has to inspect for possible valve damage, guides ,valve stem seals etc. It's not easy to discern by a rookie; all things being right, I would recommend acid wash before reinstall.
Cheers.

Who said anything about any damage to the head? Don't assume. I think we're talking more along the lines of removing the head for say a head gasket replacement and reinstalling the head. The OP is needing to know if there are any maintenance items that should be replaced at this time.

OBVIOUSLY if we are talking about a head related issue then anything that needed to be replaced will be replaced. If the head is coming off of an engine with no head issues then nothing should need to be replaced.

If it needs it you can go ahead and replace the timing belt and water pump but if the head was working fine when removed, then nothing should need to be done.
