Default Replacing stock sleeves

Well I picked up a b16 block for pretty cheap. On one of the cylinders there is a pretty good scratch. I will be using oversized pistons and a friend that is a mechanic at honda said that the scratch would probably be bored out when replacing the pistons. My question is this...IF the machine shop is not able to get the scratch out can I replace the stock sleeve or will I need to look into getting all of the sleeves replaced by a shop like GE? Thanks in advance.

depending on how big the scratch is, it can be bored out, if it is a scratch. how deep is it. also depending on how much lager you go with your pistons is a big factor also. the best thing to do is just take the block up to a machine shop and have them look at it and hear there opinion. they will know much better than any of us here who can't see what the damage looks like.

Take it to Buds machines shop over in lakewood. THey do great work. Have them take a look at it. The most you want to bore it out to is 82mm. I dont think you have to go that big to take out the scratch.

The liners can be replace. I dont think honda make one but you can get one from darton or la sleeves. Just take it to the shop and bring in the pistons and have them check it out.

Just keep in mind that sleeves have to be replaced as a complete set.

First off, there are not removable "sleeves" on most Honda engines. They are cast as one piece. (the reason for the open deck is to remove the mold)

Although I'd surely not recommend just installing one of the Darton style sleeves, I don't see a reason why it couldn't be done.

But dang, while the machine work is being done, just have it done correctly (in other words, all of them).
