Default how much material can be taken off when honing cylinders?

after receiving my wiseco's, i realized that my piston to wall clearance is tighter than i would like. my bore needs to be .002 bigger and i was wondering if a machine shop could just hone it out that much because it's such a small amount .....

What sleeves do you have and what bore are they at?

Stock can safely go to 81.5mm and aftermarket are good to 85mm for boosted applications

yes, any reputable automotive machine shop should be fully capable of this, as when they bore a block it is just a rough cut and the hone is used for final sizing.

if your going F/I you want to take as little as possible out.

If your goin N/A, you can take more than you would think is safe.

It all depends on the motor and setup; along with the fact that if your not running excessive cylinder pressures you don't need to worry about cracking a sleeve.

My wisecos came slightly off from each other. Ideally you give your pistons to the machine shop to have the bores matched to the pistons. With a computer controlled honing machine, they can take as little or as much off as they need to. Its common for shops to only hone, as it can easily take off the 0.5mm called for to rebore a normal cylinder.
