Default Replacing speedometer questions

I have a shot speedometer. The cable wont freely turn on the speedometer side. On the back of the guage assy, there is a "receptacle" where the cable ties in to the cluster. This is the peice that is binding and near frozen...

Can I replace this small part or do I need to find a complete speedo/tach guage cluster and replace the whole friggin thing?

Thanks!

is the cable the problem or the speedo? I had to replace my speedocable a couple months back which cured a problem of the speedo needle bouncing a little and not tracking well with small changes in speed.

The cable is ok. The part where the cable goes into the speedo is the problem. I don't want to pull apert a replacement speedo if I can't just change the part.

Surely someones faced this problem before?
