Default Replacing piston Rings -

Hey guys what's up.

I was just wondering something.

I am prety sure my rings are fried. as When I rev my motor up, White smoke comes out th rear.

Notin a cload but as if 1 ring is gone.

So here is my question

Is it as easy as

Taking the haad off
taking off the oil pan
and unscrewing the rods from the crank
and just pushing it up to get the piston out?

Ofcourse I'll be replacing head gasket etc...

I would be replacing the Head bolts as well as rod bolts with ARP bolts.
I plan on going boost later but I just need something for now that works.

Also, Will my engine be ok for the next month and a half?

Thanks, later

No, that's the best way to screw alot of **** up, don't get me wrong it can be done this way but you have the same problem when put back together due to the rings not seating because the cylinder was not honed. To do this right your going to have some down time so having a back-up car is recommended. Your motor is going to have to be pulled and stripped down to the bare block and prepping it to get the cylinders honed. Now if the motor hasn't seen many miles or is in good condition the cylinders can be honed using the same pistons just new rings, if not your going to have to have the block bore half over in order to get a proper seal. that means buying new pistons and rings. As you can already imagine their isn't a quick fix to this type of problem but done right the first time will save you money in the long run. I hope this helps you with your decision

lol, you just wanted the free post

So, I'd be better off pulling an engine from a junkyard and rebuilding it
That way I can just tear out this engine and drop that one in?

If you pull an engine from the junkyard theirs a LOT more involved in prepping it up, for example look at my signature and see that my civic has been pending for years because of the amount of preparation and not to mention MONEY involved with it. Not to say don't do it cause I saw some b18's today at a salvage that I wouldn't mind taking a peek at, what the hell you know its only 70 bucks if its a bust or vise-versa.. Your a smart person just use you best judgment and you'll be fine

Ok thanks for all of your help.

Ihave the chance to buy a Special edition RX-7 for $350. it runs perfect.

I have been thinking about buying this car, However I still (still, lol I'm 16)
have a love for Honda's, Integras to hit the nail on the head.

Well, Guess I'll have to think about this. Thanks Later

Would I be beter off Just importing a motor?

My dadas friend is into RX-7's
He has a team, that builds them, they have a very nice track car.

He takes me to buy RX7's all the time,
We talk about both The rotory's and the hondas

He is trying to pull me out of hondas and into the Mazda RX-7 scene.

We were talking and get this.

I can import a jspec motor with turbo kit (turbo intercooler etc..)
for $800

that wil put my rx-7 at about 225WHP.
He said with Good I/H?E or Turbo manifold, dP and exhuast I can be at 250WHP.

That seem pretty good for the cost of importing a motor for my car.

Plus I can still sell the G2 for a decent price.

I have alot of thinking to do.
