Default Removing Rust from INSIDE of Exhaust Manifold ------>

A friend of mine "borrowed" my stock B16 header and the bastard left it out in the rain for the season. Anyhow, I got it back but the chambers are rusted from the inside. The flat side where the exhaust manifold gasket goes, is also rusted. Im thinking I can slightly sand the flat side to remove the rust. But how would i go about cleaning the chambers?

hmm, you got me on that one.

no matter how much crap you try to "wash" it with only a coating will prevent it, and even still the coating won't be able to grip very well once a header is used.

got pics?

it's cast iron, it's fine.

time to buy a new _better_ one anyway.

Yah thats the STOCK manifold thank you very much . But I only need to put it back for a smog check. I have a Kamikaze manifold and that would deff not pass the visual. Reason I bought that one is cuz it was almost free. Anyhow, Im only gonna use it for the time being to get a smog check. I wasnt too sure if the rust would have an affect on emissions or can somehow someway damage anything when the rust particles fall off.

hahaha

I'd bolt it up and not connect it to the cat.

then let it run till it warms up a bit just to flush it out.
