What are you working on?

Aren't there 10 head bolts? They shouldn't be all that tight. I usually just start them with a 1/2" drive ratchet.

You may need a breaker bar, but if they were that tight, definately do not count on re-using them

if the impact gun didn't take them off then pump up the pressure on your compressor a little more

that should have removed the bolts..but if you are having problems removing the head bolts with an impact gun... you probably have some other problems.

it you used a shitty impact gun its no surprise that it didnt take them off. there are impact guns rated at as little as 75ft/lbs. use a breaker bar or get a better impact gun

Portflow or Alaniz tech. Both do terrific work. Did you try a long breaker bar or a medium breaker bar with pipe on it?

I never had a problem pulling off a head, that the bolts were actually that tight, If you cant get them out with an air gun running 90psi then you really should becarefule cranking up the psis, if you snap one off your gonna be pretty much screwed unless a machine shop can get it out for ya. Try heating them up, or let the engine run until its hot. Heat usually always help

just cos its craftsman doesnt mean its any good, smartass.

they have a 75$ model that has 75ft/lbs of torque, check its rating. also if you have an air compressor thats not supplying the correct amount of cfm the impact gun wont run at full capacity, nor will it run at full capacity if you have a constricting hose, either too skinny or too long.

Just use a long *** breaker bar. Make sure you break the bolts in the right pattern.
