Do you have to remove the bearings to give the balljoint enough clearance to pop it out?
I hammered out the balljoint about .25", but I think it'll run into the bearing sleeve if I try to go any further.
I wonder if there's an easier way to remove the front balljoints.

dont you have to heat it or use a press or something??????
im not really sure wha tyou are refering to though...
can you give a better description?

I'm trying to avoid removing the entire hub assembly...although if I do, I'll probably replace the wheel bearings as well. TMI.
The (possible) problem is that the bearing sleeve pokes out from the hub and intersects perpendicularly with the upward path of the balljoint for its egress. It hasn't actually hit it yet, but I suspect that it will if I keep hammering up on the balljoint (it's already fuoked).
I've still got another .25" to go before the balljoint fully clears its seat, but that's probably not enough room to get the balljoint out without the bearing sleeve being an interference problem.
I'd like to keep from removing the wheel bearing if possible, which involves a press and/or heavy machinery.

what are you using to remove it, mate? a pickel fork? if yes, don't go in perpendicular to the hub and the bearing, go parralel. i ran into the same problem when doing my ES bushings, rotated the fork and hammered away, i did bend the heat shield a bit, but nothing else was touched. email me if you need more help.
