well that where the term came from. normally car companys had a red section or red lines on the tach to show u when it is safe to shift.
people now use the term such as "i was redlining every gear" or " then i redlined" for saying they took there motor up to its peak point of rpm range.
so yes you were right. there are a few different ways people use this term. do u understand it now?
