rebuilt engine...car wont start!
okay so we just finished our engine rebuild, just a stock b18b in a 95 ls. anyway when we try and start it up it cranks but wont start...it seems to crank a little slowly too. we checked the distributor...seems okay, check all connections...all there...checked battery...was at around 11omhs (i think) which should be enough power to start the car, there fuel lines are okay because we accidently forgot to tighten the fuel rail and fuel sprayed everywhere....new engine oil, tans oil, coolant... we were thinking maybe the timing was off? gonna pull the head apart again tomorrow and check the cams and cam gears, any other suggestions? HELP!!!
i think me means 11volts which would be the cause of the slow cranking.
try charging the battery first and then crank it. it should crank alot faster and should accualy fire up. the starter sucks alot of the power from the battery when cranking so there isnt enough power to fire the ignition.

If your battery is at 11 Volts, it's not strong enough to start the motor.
Also make sure your ground cables are connected and that the starter cable is connected well.

UPDATE:
okay so we got a chance to work on it today and the cams/gears were off and everything is now at TDC, its an auto so nothing to do w/clutch. plugs arefine...it actually seems like it starts to turnover but never catches. were stumpted right now. we even tried jumping it to get more power but no dice. if anyone lives in the NW suburbs that would be willing to help that would be appeciated! (were located in des plaines/mt prospect area) any more suggestions?!?!

well were pretty sure its getting fuel because when we first tried to start it fuel sprayed out of the fuel rail because it wasnt tightened all the way, an i think its getting a spark because it makes the noise to start to turn over...but i could be wrong. oh yea, before we got the timing properly we could smell fuel, but then when we put everything at TDC the smell was gone.
oh yea one more thing. on the passanger side axle we think that the ball joint is busted by the LCA cause when we try and put the castle nut back on it spins w/the nut...how do i go about getting that fix/replaced?
and on the drivers side we cant get the LCA to line up w/the ball joint bolt anymore...it seems like the rotor isnt in as far as it can go, theyre maybe 2 inches apart. the axle is in the trans all the way...there is a section in the middle of the axle (not sure what its called) but i dont think its in all the way. any idea/opinions?

one thing at a time. I mean it may be getting fuel to the rail but that deosn't mean its firing(the injectors). If you can or have a friend let you borrow a noid tester and test for current to the injectors. I forgot how much they are if you wanna buy one.
yeah its called a noid tester and you can get them at autozone. you plug it into the injector harness and it will light up if the injector is getting a signal.
see if you can atleast hear the injectors clicking while trying to start. Put a finger on the side of one of the injectors to help place the click.... you might just have to pull the plugs and let the fuel evaporate from the cylinders too. from all the cranking i can imagine you guys are doing, there is prolly a quarter inch of fuel in there fouling the plugs. check it out and let us know.
still havent checked the injectors but we went to try new spark plus and found fuel on the bottom of 2 of the plugs...could that be a reason for the car not to start? are the plugs bad now? and does that mean the injectors are working?

so...the question is if the car isnt getting fuel how does that get "fixed"?
