1) buy a helms. http://www.helminc.com
2) pay attention. not to be mean, but you dont sound like your ready to build a motor.

Instant message me or email me for info. Depending on your ultimate goals, the products you sue my change around a bit. Forged pistons and eagle rods would be optimal, but if cost is a factor there are other way to go about it. Drop me a line.
only junk if you have no engine building and tuning skills...... why are there people running 10 second passes on single slam non vtecs if they are junk?
building your engine is nothing easy.
but i built my first engine no problem. it's all in the research. make sure you have all the proper machining done, use the correct rods and main bearings, always torque bolts lubed with motor oil/moly lube, and always pre-lube your parts, and keep everything clean!!
here's a rundown of some stuff i'd recommend:
mill the head (flat)
3-5 angle valve job new seals, inspect guides.. springs if necessary.
Proper line bore job, with a proper grit on the cyl walls depending on rings (inform your machine shop of which type of rings before they bore)
have the whole engine assembly balanced. rods, flywheel harmonic balancer/accessory pulley
have the rods rounded before installing them (make sure they're right on)
have the crank journals polished, and ground if necessary (machine shop will know)
inspect your oil pump/replace it (they do wear)
uhhhhhhhhhh. other peeps fill in, i can't think it's 1:30. lol
