im going to do the rear main seal tomorrow on my dohc zc motor but im not 100% sure yet whats involved. i know i have to take my tranny, clutch, flywheel, and oil pan off but my chiltons manual isnt very detailed on how to change the seal. if anyone has done a rear main seal on a honda motor PLEASE give me some insite. thanks a lot

 

Once you gain access to the rear seal remove the plate that holds the seal . I use a flathead screwdriver and a hammer to remove the old seal. It is fairly simple. When using this method you must be careful not to gouge the metal plate with the screwdriver. One one side breaks loose you can pull the old seal out. Installing the seal I use a piece of wood to drive the new seal in. Pretty simple. Take you time and all will go well.
