Default Random question

So, I was thinking about putting a turbo in my car some months ago, but decided I don't have the money for it right now. I was wondering though, how do people do it as far as installing it goes? I assume lots of people install all the parts themselves, but can they drive the car like that without having it tuned? I thought you'd need to get it tuned before driving, but can you drive the car at all without the tune? Will it blow up? Is it fine?

you could drive it but one of two things are going to happen . Too lean an air/fuel will begin to heat and distort parts, too rich will wash the oil off the cylinders causing premature wear.

Would you run a marathon only breathing thru your nose? Yes it will blow up/self destruct/terminate itself if it's not tuned. Some kits come with a piggy back computer that attaches to the factory harness that are "pre-tuned" for specific applications.

if you really have no experience with this you might be better off taking it to a professional. they can (should) be able to tell you injector size needed, tune or direct you to a competant tuner, install, more than just bolting stuff on, (oil drain, etc).. not trying to say you can't do it but its a lot of money to waste on improper install and engine failure. also they can recommend engine management whether it be Crome, Ectune, Hondata, etc...

good luck whatever you decide to do!
