Default radiator fan: pusher or puller?

which configuration is best for cooling? i recently replaced my stock fan with a slim fan and its a pusher. i assume that's how the stock fan is too b/c i soldered the blue and black wires to their respective colors. anyway, id think a puller would be more effective since it doesnt have to push against the incoming air. in order to change it, i just resolder the wires to the opposite colors, right?

How's is it a pusher? All Hondas and Acuras are puller type. They sit behind the radiator and pull the heat away from the radiator fins. Some imports are pusher type like my dad's Lexus LS400. It has two fans in the front of the radiator.

As mentioned, all OEM Honda fans are pullers. Most aftermarket fans are pushers. To rectify this, simply switch the black and blue wires. It won't pull with the same efficiency as it can push, but it'll still be able to pull at least as much air as the stock fan.

That's not what the idea of pusher/puller is all about.

A puller fan is located behind the radiator, it pulls the air thru like the stock fans.

A pusher fan is located in front of the radiator, it pushes the air thru, but the air is still moving towards the engine compartment.

You use a pusher fan when there isn't room for a puller. Like a turbo manifold or something else is in the way? GENERALLY the blade shape isn't the same, so if you wire it backwards it will spin backwards; but then the blade shape is not real good for that flow direction. That's the efficiency Kendall's talking about.

It seems kinda silly that a fan maker doesn't offer pretty much the same fan motor with a backwards fan... All they really have to do is make the hub so you can install the other fan when you reverse the wiring. If you simply reverse the wiring, be careful that the fan doesn't spin off of the motor shaft since it's spinning backwards.
