Default qustions on my mind.....

ok, first question is on the b16s, alot of ppl do this swap, but theres no torque, so why do so many ppl chose this. Second is on the h22a. How come barely anyone chooses this swap? also, y are they so cheap compared to the b series.Wouldnt you get the maxium amount of tourqe and hp from the h22a? next, i get confused when ppl say they got z6.. and y8 and other chit, i dont really get it, what are the engine codes for? next, how would a b20 swap compare to a b16 or b18b? next , is b20 block with the type r head the way for maxium hp? i see this alot with big hp numbers... they sound like noob questions, but its just some stuff on my mind

Woah... tonz of questions.

1-B16's are fairly inexpensive, and give nice high end power... I don't like 'em tho.
2- H22A, don't do this because it's too heavy for our 4g cars, plus you have to do a TON of custom work just to make it fit. The weight causes steering problems.
3- Z6, Y8... Those are D series motors. D16A6 '88-'91 Civic/CRX Si, D16Z6 '92-'95 Civic EX/Si (SOHC VTEC) D16Y8 '96-'00 Civic EX (SOHC VTEC)..
4- B20 compare to B16 or B18B? I don't know!
5- B20 block w/type R head... I don't anything about know that either...

the b16a swap is easy

the h22a swap is hard

the b20 swap is harder than the b16 swap, but easier than the h22

etc etc etc...

oh, and there are diffent costs involved too,

the b16 is cheapest, b20vtec fairly expensive, as is the h22

pretty simple really

PS why dont you have a quick search on the World Wide Web for these answers and come back with some more specific questions...

thanks , wait nevermind... i knew/heard everything u guys have said, just askin again to conferm my beliefs.. so how will the b20 compare to the b16 or b18b? 1/4 mile and hp?

on the 1/4 mile

asuming same driver, unmodified engines, same track conditions, same car etc...

i reckon it would be:

B20VTEC 1st
B18C 2nd
B18VTEC 3rd
B16B 4th
B16A 5th
B20Z 6th
B20B 7th
B18B 8th
B18A 9th

I had two GSR's before both were ok.. (into EG's) but I'm doing an h22a swap into EK now.. from the h22a i've ridden in it's worth all the xtra penny's !

in a typicall motor... hp can be increase easier than torque and that one is hard to increase !! (think about it)

so if i were to go down the b20vtec path, would it make a difference between the b20b or the b20z? no one around my way has done this let alone heard of it. i told my one friend about doin a b20 swap and he laughed, ill show him

What you should do is turbo a non vtec b20. Building a b20vtec requires a higher skill level than swapping and turboing an otherwise stock b20. Plus a turbo b20 will smoke a b20vtec as bad as I smoke blunts.

If you still like vtec the idea, the b20b is the lower compression. The b20z has valve clearance issues with a vtec head. The jdm b20's are all b's. Some of them are like our z's and some like our b's so becareful.
