quick question on P30 ecu
please copy and paste
im sorry if the pics are huge

okay so i have an obd 1 p30 ecu that came of a eg6 but i dont know if it has a chip and from what i have researched p30 is not all that and it should have a rev limit of 8200 but i had a b16a in my coupe and with that ecu i noticed that there was no rev limit because i one time rev it to 9950 lol i only did it that once to find out where was my fuel cutoff. also when i am in first gear my vtec kicks at 6 and every gear after that is at 7rpm is this because i have a chipped ecu or just a fucked up one.

Yeah, but do you know what you are looking at? I'm guessing no.
You have an ECU with an OEM installed external ROM. This chip contains OEM Honda programming, but being code #72 is unusual to me. I would expect it to be #203 in a JDM P30. What is the full part number on the side of the ECU?
I have typically seen the external ROM only on automatic P30 ECUs, though you do not have any of the high side switches for tranny control.
The MCU is blank in this particular ECU, so you must always run an external ROM. If you remove J1 on the backside of the PCB, the ECU will be stuck in limp mode.

dont you hate it when you lost your long a$$ post when it says your not logged in but you are. Well anyways Ill keep it short.
Jim is right it is an external rom, either factory or aftermarket.
It is definately not an auto cause I do know what I am looking at.
The rom with the copper colored sticker on it. does it look like it has been resoldered. only way to know for sure is to read the rom.
