Default ecu question

my friends 94 dc hatch has a d16y8 motor swap and is running a chipped p28 ecu. the rev limiter is up at around 7500 rpm. i plugged his ecu into my 94 ex coupe and my rev limiter was still at 6800rpm. do i have to wait for a little while for the ecu to reset or something? any help is appreciated.
