question for pro engine builders
I took apart my bottom end today to swap my dome pistons, for some flat tops, since Im goin turbo. I was running a wiseco 12:5.1(20 over). Now, the intake side of the piston skirt, and sleeve (on all 4 cylinders) were scuffed alot more than the exhaust side, and to my opinion a little more than a engine with 2k miles should be.
This is the first time I run a forged piston in my car though, so Im not really familiar with how they should wear. Im taking everything to the machine shop tomm. to get the new pistons weighed, and measured, but I wanted to see what
you guys think, cause Im sure the machine shop will say thats normal, considering they built the block. Thanks in advance

how much were they scuffed? shouldn't be THAT much, but little is fine.
did you allow the engine to fully warm up often when turning on the car? not doing this can cause excess scuffing on the piston skirts when the engine is cold and running it around.

Running to lean can cause that problem. You might have to bore the block again if the cylinders are out of round.

For the first 1000 miles I used to always let the engine warm up for like 15 min.
Then it turned out I ended wasting more gas warming the car up, than when I was actually driving it. So I would warm the car up for less than a min., a just drive it very easy shifting at like 1800. As far as it running lean hard to say I think it was running pretty stoich, Never had any detonating problems.
